On June 15, the World Federation of International Music Competitions (WFIMC) held its 2021 annual meeting in Reggio Emilia, Italy.

After the conference, Peter Paul Kainrath, director of the Busoni International Piano Competition, was elected as the new chairman of the alliance. Supported by the World Musicians Association. In addition, the alliance also elected ten board members. They are leaders of important music competitions from the United States, Germany, the Netherlands, Australia, Finland, Japan, France, and China.

With With the newly elected board of directors of the World International Music Competition Alliance, I believe that we will be able to open new dialogues and partnerships in the spirit of innovation and global networks."

The World International Music Competition Alliance was established in 1957 and currently has more than 120 event members worldwide. It is a global alliance composed of internationally recognized top music competitions. It provides guidelines for artistic excellence, integrity and fairness for the competition, thereby establishing globally recognized management and artistic standards. From the original 13 members, the alliance has grown to include major music competitions in the world, such as: Poland Chopin International Piano Competition, Switzerland Geneva International Music Competition, Belgium Queen Elizabeth International Music Competition, Russia Tchaikovsky International Music Competition, Munich ARD International Music Competition, Germany, etc.
